- Rose Valley Viewpoint: Pink rocks at golden hour.
- Sunset Point Near Göreme: Easy access, no hiking.
- Pigeon Valley Viewpoint: Uçhisar side, with evil-eye tree.
Dual Purpose (Both Sunrise & Sunset)

- Esentepe Viewpoint: Behind Göreme, less touristy.
Timing by Season
- Summer: Sunrise 5:15am, sunset 8:30pm
- Spring/Fall: Sunrise 6:30am, sunset 7:00pm
- Winter: Sunrise 7:30am, sunset 5:00pm
- Arrive 30 min before for best light
Access Tips
- Most viewpoints have free parking but fill early in season
- Some require 5-15 min walking from parking
- Uncomfortable footwear will ruin your sunrise
- Bring water, layers, and light source for predawn walks
Photography Setup
- Tripod essential for low light
- Graduated ND filter for bright sky
- Smartphone Night Mode works remarkably well
- Check cancellation status at 5am — if no balloons launch by 5:45, sunrise is still worth it
Cappadocia's golden hour lasts longer than most destinations — the volcanic rock catches light beautifully. Plan at least one sunrise AND one sunset from different viewpoints.
