Kaymaklı Underground City is one of the largest and deepest underground cities in Cappadocia. This ancient settlement, which is 8 floors deep, has a capacity to accommodate approximately 3500 people. The city, which was first started to be carved during the Hittite period, was expanded by Christians during the Byzantine period.
The city was built to protect from Roman and Arab raids. The complex tunnel system, ventilation shafts, water wells and storage rooms create a complete underground living space.
Ihlara Valley is a magnificent canyon valley 14 km long and 150 meters deep. This valley, formed by the Melendiz Stream carving rocks for thousands of years, is one of the greenest and most peaceful corners of Cappadocia.
Natural Features:
There are more than 100 rock churches along the valley. These churches were built in different periods from the 4th century to the 13th century. The most famous ones include Ağaçaltı Church, Snake Church and Kokar Church.

Green Tour is a medium difficulty tour. There's a 2.5 km flat hike in Ihlara Valley and stair climbing in the underground city. Medium level physical condition is sufficient. Suitable for elderly participants and children.
Unfortunately, it's not suitable for people with claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces). There are narrow corridors, low ceilings and enclosed areas. In this case, we can recommend Red Tour as an alternative.
Suitable for children 6 years and older. However, children must be accompanied by adults in the underground city due to narrow areas. Valley hiking is fun and educational for children.
Yes, absolutely mandatory. There are slippery stones in valley hiking, stairs and uneven floors in underground city. Wearing sports shoes or hiking boots is necessary for your safety.
Green Tour is less affected by weather conditions as it mostly takes place in covered areas. Only in heavy rain, valley hiking may be shortened. Underground city is preferred in winter as it's warmer.
Of course! Single reservations are accepted. Groups are formed with other participants. There's no extra charge for single participation.
Village dishes are served in natural setting by Melendiz Stream in Belisırma village. You'll taste fresh vegetables, homemade bread and traditional flavors. Vegetarian options are also available.
Yes, photography is allowed throughout the tour. You can take magnificent nature photos especially in Ihlara Valley. Flash usage may be restricted in some sections of the underground city.
