Ihlara Valley is one of the most beautiful Cappadocia valleys. It is located in the southwest of Turkey, in Cappadocia region.

The valley was formed by two rivers: Melendiz River and Porsuk River. The valley is surrounded by high rocks and it has a length of 3 kilometers. It takes about 2 hours to walk through this valley. Ihlara Valley has a dry climate due to its location in the Anatolian Plateau, which makes it an important place for agriculture, especially apple production. At the top of the valley, there are many Byzantine churches carved into the rocks that were used as hideouts during Ottoman times.

There is also a cave called Belisirma Cave at the bottom of the valley which can be reached by walking through a narrow passage called Bademlik Canyon (Rose Garden).

The Ihlara Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Cappadocia. The valley consists of a series of fairy chimneys, rock-cut churches and cave dwellings carved into the volcanic rock. The valley is located on the skirts of Mount Hasan and Mount Hasan Daği. The main entrance to the valley is through its main valley, which extends from east to west for about 2 km (1.2 mi) and has a depth of approximately 30 m (98 ft).

The Ihlara Valley was first settled in the early Byzantine period (5th-7th centuries AD), when it was known as Tyana. During this time, Christians flocked to the region due to its secluded location and relative safety from persecution. The rock-cut churches they constructed during this period were decorated with frescoes depicting biblical scenes such as Noah's Ark and Jesus' baptism by John the Baptist.

Many of these churches are still well preserved today thanks to their construction out of volcanic tuff stone (a soft stone that erodes slowly over time). However, some have been damaged over time by earthquakes and other natural disasters such as landslides.
